Paving the Way for Indonesian Businesses

With 17,000 islands sprawling across one-third of the equatorial line, Indonesia is by far the largest archipelago nation in the planet. What used to be a concentration of wealth in the Island of Java has now spread to the five main Islands of Indonesia - Sumatera, Borneo (Kalimantan), Celebes (Sulawesi), Java (Jawa) and Papua (Irian).

The autonomy liberation has propelled a new era of economic growths in many parts of Indonesia. Balikpapan and Samarinda are now among the richest towns in Indonesia, driven largely by the booming mining industries. Makassar as the gate to the east (of Indonesia), has seen explosion of activities in the construction and infrastructure-based industries. As recent as last year, Batam and Bintan had been marked as Free-Trade Zone (FTZ) with Singapore. There is no doubt that this special economic region will see new spur of growth as more bilateral agreements between Indonesia and Singapore are finalized and penned down.

Our journey in serving your logistical needs

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Pontianak was one of the largest timber-producing state in Indonesia. Located in the west of Borneo Island, Pontianak was well-known for its Orange produce and the agricultural industries were thriving back then.

The humble journey of EMKL Kompas started in 1971. At the beginning, we serve only the Jakarta-Pontianak-Jakarta route. Back then, EMKL Kompas enjoys de-facto monopoly status. During those years, there were only a handpick of logistic providers or freight forwarders in Indonesia. EMKL Kompas benefited from the golden timber era - an era where timber supplies were in abundance and they were exported in large quantities to the capital Jakarta.

Started off with a humble beginning as a small freight forwarding firm with less than five staffs altogether, EMKL Kompas has slowly built a reputation as the preferred name in Jakarta-Pontianak route. With three decades of expertise and experience, EMKL Kompas was ready to embark on a new chapter. In 2001, EMKL Kompas underwent major restructuring and the Management saw the tremendous potential behind under-developed Eastern region of Indonesia. Under the new Management Team, EMKL Kompas expanded its network to cover the rapidly growing economic cities in Eastern region of Indonesia such as Makassar, Manada, Balikpapan and Samarinda. Shortly after, our network has grown remarkably. Today, we proud to partner small and medium enterprises in their market expansion drive in rapidly developing cities. To name a fews, they are such cities as Balikpapan, Batam, Jayapura, Medan, Palembang and Tanjung Pinang.

At EMKL Kompas, we recognize the value of our customers - business owners, small to medium to large enterprises - for trusting us as their logistic / transportation providers. We grow as our partners grow. by many Indonesian companies, ranging from small to large enterprises.

The years of experiences in freight forwarding business have given us the knowledge and expertise in handling wide range of goods such as food, automotive spare-parts or even heavy machineries and mining equipments. At EMKL Kompas, we provide door-to-door services to both On-Shore and Off-Shore locations. With such a wide range of customer backgrounds, EMKL Kompas offers customers the option of choosing between land, sea, or air routes depending on the urgency of the needs.
